Archbishop Dermot Farrell of Dublin has said the introduction of parish partnerships as part of structural changes in the Irish Church’s largest diocese is “much more than ‘managing decline’”. The archbishop announced the radical proposal for parish partnerships in early December, after a period of consultation with the Archdiocese of Dublin’s 197 parishes which began last Easter.

Funeral Ministry Training
The two courses for Funeral Leaders and members of New Teams are well under way in the Mission & Ministry Centre at St Paul’s Church, Arran Quay. There is the latest AV equipment for visual presentation and the sound system has been rebooted for effective listening and interaction. Hospitality is offered which is appreciated by all. It was an important part of the tradition at Clonliffe before the Covid outbreak in 2020.

About Our parish
The Parish of St. Martin de Porres, Old Bawn, is in Dublin Archdiocese. It stretches southwards from the Square Shopping Centre to the foot of the Dublin mountains. The Parish encompasses well established estates such as St. Maelruan’s Park, Watergate, Old Bawn, Aylesbury and in more recent years Ellensborough and Marlfield caring pastorally for well over 3,000 homes. The church, as far as we know is the only parish church in Ireland dedicated to St. Martin De Porres, was officially opened and blessed by Archbishop Dermot Ryan on 12th December 1976. St. Martin’s is a mature parish with a high degree of lay participation. The Parish Clerics consist of Rev Fr. James Daly P.P; Very Rev Canon Michael Hurley, P.C.; Rev Fr. Hilary Etomike, C.C; Rev Fr Hector Mwale, P.C; and Rev Padraic O'Sullivan - Deacon.
